Moreover, confirming that the wider region is boiling with competition, he pointed out that " geopolitical developments in the Eastern Mediterranean and the Red Sea make it absolutely necessary to continue the European operation ASPIDES.

The only thing of course "necessary" for the government and the other bourgeois parties that support the politics of involvement, gambling the lives of thousands of seafarers, is the support of the Euro-Atlantic plans as well as Greek shipbuilding interests, as evidenced by the recent incident in which the frigate "Psara" played the role of... "corporate security" for the tanker "SOUNION" hit by the Houthis.

On top of this, the people also pay the bill for the involvement, since the cost of deploying a frigate in the area has been reliably calculated at 500,000 euros per day. This is the price we pay for Greek frigates to guard private shipping.
