The Workers Party of Ireland sends its solidarity to the Communist Party of the Workers of Spain (PCTE) and the working people of Spain following the extensive flooding in Valencia, Castilla-La Mancha and Andalusia, together with the recent bout of flooding in Girona, leaving hundreds dead, many injured and missing, together with widespread loss and destruction of homes and infrastructure.
The late and inadequate response of the bourgeois state demonstrates that capitalist profit is regarded as more important than the lives of the people, with the greatest burden falling, as ever, on the working class.
The WPI extends its sincere condolences to the families of the deceased.
The climate crisis produced by capitalism is an existential threat to humanity. A clear communist analysis of the causes and a decisive response to the environmental emergencies of our time, which cannot be solved within the framework of the capitalist order, demands system change if the peoples of the world are to survive.
In comradely solidarity,
Ted Tynan, President
Gerry Grainger, International Secretary
On behalf of the Central Executive Committee Workers Party of Ireland
